Freddie’s FAQs

How are you different from all the other children’s snacks out there?

We are the real deal. We grow our ingredients or source from local British suppliers, we make our own products – sadly that is unique! With us you know exactly what you are getting. We would don’t bring in ingredients from abroad. We would rather make less money but provide our children, not only with the best possible nutrition, but with a sustainable future which doesn’t involve an unnecessary carbon footprint.

We have patented the process we use to make our snacks – unlike the big brands we never use concentrates or purees. We start with whole, fresh fruit and veg. We take our fresh produce and roughly grate and rather than baking like everyone else we slowly dehydrate. Before gently pressing them into our Bites and Bars, and finally we pack them into our 100% kerbside recyclable paper packaging.

Find out more about our process here.

Do your products count as one of your 5-a-day?

Yes, our snacks are made from whole fruit and veg, not juices or purees, so they do contain fibre and nutrients. They’re a great way to enjoy fruit and veg on the go – but we always recommend plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables first.

Can I put them in a lunchbox for school?

Yes – our Bites and Bars are designed with school snacks in mind. They’re non-HFSS (meeting government guidance for sugar, salt and fat), and our packs are fully kerbside recyclable too.

Are your products organic?

Our family have grown fruit and vegetables for generations, the vast majority of the fruit and vegetables we use are unsprayed, however we cannot label as organic as there are other areas of the farm that may have minimal pesticide use in the past.

Are your products vegetarian/vegan/Kosher?

Yes, all our products are suitable for vegans and vegetarians as they only contain fruit and veg! We are also Kosher certified.

What age group can enjoy our products?

Our Fruity Bites and Bars are not gummy like other fruit snacks out there but are soft and very easily chewed. They are primarily aimed at older children and make a fantastic school snack. Of course, we recommend our snacks as a small part of a varied diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, and always offered before our snacks. And always be sure to brush teeth thoroughly. As with any new food for your child, start slowly, and of course never leave them unattended while eating. As per NHS guidance snacks are not recommended to children under one, and we recommend our snacks to children over 36 months.

How are they so tasty?

First of all, thanks! We have spent years getting the Fruity Bites and Bars like they are, so it’s wonderful to have such great feedback! It all starts with the ingredients…. Everything in our products is British farm grown, as much as possible from our own farm, because we know that’s the tastiest out there! We know exactly what we are putting in, as, like you, we want to know exactly what we are putting into our children. The Freddie’s Farm Factory is in the middle of our farm; delicious fresh fruit and vegetables go in and are inspected, washed and scrubbed clean. Then for the clever bit, Freddie’s Daddy has invented a special process where we roughly grate and slowly dehydrate. This allows us to keep the free sugars lower, and the fibre high. We don’t bake them, which takes out so many nutrients!

Who is Freddie?

Freddie is our son, our best helper and inspiration for our snacks. He loves his fruit and veg and helping us grow, pick and eat it. We initially created Freddie’s Farm for him when he was little as we wouldn’t give him any snacks available in supermarkets. Now we are so proud to be able to share them with your children, and Freddie’s little sister Ottie, who loves our snacks as much as her brother!

Is your packaging recyclable?

It certainly is, all of it. You don’t have to do anything clever, or post it back to us, just pop it in with your normal recycling!

Do your products contain any allergens?

Our snacks are made only from fruit and veg, and our own factory does not handle nuts or other common allergens such as dairy or gluten. We also have strong traceability systems in place.

However, we don’t hold official nut-free certification. On rare occasions we pack products for other companies, and while these do not contain nuts, some of their ingredients may have passed through sites that handle allergens. This means we cannot guarantee our snacks are 100% free from every trace.

Where can you buy Freddie’s Farm products?

You can find the retailers selling our snacks by visiting each of our products pages.

Do you really live on a farm?

Yes! Our family has been farming here in Kent for generations. Freddie’s Farm is a real working farm (It’s actually called Bramley Mount but don’t tell Freddie!) – we grow, make and pack the snacks right here.

Have you fed Biscuit and twiglet yet?

Oi dogs – please stop playing with the website. You’ve definitely been fed.
